I've got one on a WM Extra. It's spinning a 21X8 @ 7200, still breaking in. I've got 2 gals through it now and it does a very nice job of pulling that 80" bird around.

I've never weighed it but it handles well and is quite responsive. No it isn't hidden in the cowl, we had to cut holes for the plug wires, but they only protrude about 3/8". I'm using two 1800 mha sub C packs for the control surfaces and a 1700 AA on the ignition. We mounted the tank over the CG and didn't need any extra weight for balance. It's a great combination.

It's a Zinger, it started life as a 22X8. A 1/2" off each end at the band saw works very well.

Don't do it!

Dont listen to the songs on the YW engines web site (they accompany the streaming download of a user hovering his ship) ..

That woman sings the worst ear-worm I have come across in years ....aaarrrgh ..... it's been in my head 3 days now ..

The site should come with a sanity warning ( I guess the advertisers have acheived what they wanted to though )

This is an update on my earlier post "YW Engines"---Today finally I put my "YW48 twin" & GP Patty Wagstaff in the air for the first time---Wow! what a sweet package!---I'm basically new to gas, I do have one other gas bird/a H9 Taylorcraft with a G26, another nice combo!---I can't get enough of this YW & Wagstaff combo---Details, for those who care: Hyde softmount-
EMS battery backer with
two 1650ma NiMH for radio-
One 2000ma NiMH for ign.-
Hitec #5475 servos all around-
Three MPI switches-
EMS "E" switch (trans. controlled)
in series with ign. circuit
YW mufflers
Bal. with radio batt. 4/5 ins. behind canopy &
ign. batt. 1/2 way between frt. of servo
tray & back side of wing tube
Oh! by the way, did I mention ---I LOVE THIS COMBO!

What's the all up weight of the Wagstaff and hows the vertical performance? Does this engine start easily?

Thanks

Gunny

You could lose a lotta weight without the softmount and a much smaller ignition battery, you would like the combo even better

Well, a little brain/fade, weight is one of the basic details, right?---All/up flying weight (on my digital fish/scale) 17.25#---is vertical unlimited? no way!---Is vertical plenty for most sport flying? absoultly!---I think it starts just great, but I don't hand start ANYTHING---choke it--turn/on the ign.--hit it with the starter--BANG! it's running---

Also thanks RCIGN1 for the weight tips, but I love "Hyde Softmounts" & I'm just an old/man who enjoys tinkering 1st & sport/flying 2nd---
Thanks Again
