For the work station itself... it would totally depend on where you are planning on putting it... how much room do you have... do you want to do the "construction" of it? or buy the bench, etc, and put it all together?.....

As for a toolbox.... get something that is bigger than you currenty need. You'll grow into it in a hurry...

I'll try to gets some pics to give you ideas...

I don't currently have a workbench- not enough room.... When I buy a new home I'll have that in mind though...

Here's my car box... this has been my first car box. It has served me well, but I've already outgrown it. Soon, I'll get another so I can separate the electric stuff from the nitro...

I find that fishing tackle boxes work great for keeping your stuff somewhat organized...
(that more compartments- the better, and be sure to look for one that makes everything super accessible)

This box has a couple compartments in the lid where I stow odds and ends... I really should be putting things in there that I need most frequently... its a handy place for the body clips.

Each box serves its own purpose... one for electrics, one for nitro (and tools), and the little one can be opened from both sides- one side w/ springs, the other side for shock rebuild stuff and servo accessories...

I have another tackle box for all my airplane junk...
Anyway... this was a good way to start out... I really need to reorganize mine though...

I use a plastic folding card table as my work area. Gives me plenty of room. If I need to move it to another room or decide to go to a park I am all set. You will need a big tool box as Goku said, you will definately grow into it.

I just use normal tools, some smaller than others. I dont use the large ones, they will strip screw heads and such. If I need a clamp or something like that I use a regular size visegrip. I plan on adding a vise to my collection soon.

what size? Uh...I dunno... I guess all sizes?

I try to have every size I need...I have a full set of standard and metric allens up to about 3/8 inch in size (I have the regular allen wrenches, but a lot of people like the allen drivers.)...also 2 different sizes of screwdrivers- both flathead and phillips... a nutdriver set up to 3/8...and a 4 inch crescent wrench... also a few different sizes of pliers...

then in my soldering/electrical box, there's a full set of tools for that type of work...

more tools in the flight box for those applications...

If you are building it in a permanent location, let me suggest that you mount a peg board on the wall behind. Very handy.
