I think it was a recent edition of Jet Power Magazine that was doing a scale finish on a Eurofighter and they used this powder for weathering. The article described the technique

Matt - It took 2 to 3 months but I finally recieved my first issue (with part 3 of the weathering article!) recently.

Anyone have parts 1 and 2? I would gladly pay for copying and mailing costs....I will need to begin using this process myself in the next few weeks...

Heer, do you put any kind of topcoat over the control powder?

FWIW, I found the 3M powder kit today at a local auto paint store (Tri-City in San Diego, CA). Fairly common item to stock, they say.

Not only is it good for weathering, when you use it for its intended purpose (as a guide coat) you will get a better finish with less sanding (more important if your doing a shiny sport finish). If you like to wet sand primer its just the ticket. Also you can wipe it over body filler (after its cut down say with 100 grit) then do your finish sand before primer (180-220 grit)you will see when the 100 marks are gone.

peanut is emergency food - no, its only a joke for a friend and means the jet is a peanut to fly !

you can use the control powder (or guide coat) after clear coat and before. It is waterproof and diffecult to remove!! Use it carefully!!!
