Default This AMSOIL OK?

I purchased a quart of Saber Professional 100:1 Pre-Mix Synthetic 2-Cycle oil (http://www.amsoil.com/products/atp_ato.htm for my DA-100. Is this a satisfactory choice?

Yep the Saber is the same as the old premix 100/1 ratio just a different name according to AMsoil , works great at 100/1 or 90/1 I use 1/5 ozs in my gassers mixed with premium gas.

The back of the container shows mixes up to 40:1, etc...
So if they have it on the label I am assuming it is OK to mix this at all that is shown on back.
Such as I am running it at 50:1.
Will switch to 80:1 after this batch in a ZDZ 80

I would go with no more than 80/1 on the Amsoil , to much of this oil will gum up and stick your rings and you could have a high carbon build up at 40/1 , this info is straight from various oil sources concerning Amsoil. If in dougbt call your engine dealer i am sure he will tell you the same.

The oil Amsoil 100:1 would gum your engine up at lower ratios than 80:1. The Saber may be different. I really don't see a RC application (other than high speed pylon racing) where our RC engines will need more oil than 80:1

As long as your engine is already run in, Amsoil is recommended by Desert Aircraft for their engines mixed at 100:1.

To make sure, I would suggest contacting Dave Huffmeir at DA to confirm this.

I'm nearly finished with my final gallon of Lawn Boy Ashless mix.

I know that AMSOIL made various types of 100:1 and I didn't want to mess up my engine.

Thanks for the info fellas!

Regards,
Bart

I'm finishing up my 1st gallon on my Fuji BT-50SA. It is premium with Poul Ashless, mixed at 25:1.

I've mixed up a 2nd gallon of premium and Amsoil 50:1 at the 40:1 ratio????

Hey,Jim
How's your 50SA doing? Look under "Giant Aircrafts" I posted the maidenflight of CE from last Sunday. Interesting to compair your experience with mine. I recall you're having trouble with finding the right prop. I put an 18x10 Zinger on and clocked her doing 7300 right from the getgo. That's also the prop I used to maiden her. I can tell you, power to spare, honestly. Have you tried to run at least a 20x8 insted of a 20x10? I think during the break in period 20x10 is way too much prop. Soon I will try that free Fuji oil that came with the engine. It's 150:1 ! If I like it I stick with it, I guess.

I probably could get 7300 from an 18x10 but wonder if that would be better than the 6300 I was getting from the 20x10. Currently I'm fighting a mix problem and am probably running too lean or I might have fowled the plug. I got a momentary 6800rpm on the Mejzlik but then the engine started acting unstable at full throttle, not holding a steady rpm. My ultimate goal is about 7000-7200 on a Mejzlik 20x10, which the Fuji rep says I should be able to achieve.

What's with this 150:1 oil your talking about? My understanding is if you mix that in the 40:1 ratio that Fuji calls for it will create a lot of carbon build-up in your engine. That is why I chose the Amsoil 50:1 over the Amsoil 100:1. My question above concerns whether even that is a good idea for a engine designed for 40:1 ratios.

Jim forget about the Fuji stuff. I called Tower and they told me a 250cc bottle ( little more than 8oz) is over $44.00! Do they think we're crazy? Right now I am runnig it in on Pennsoil 2 stroke for aircooled engines. I heard ntohing but good things about it. Mix it 40:1 after initial break in. Next time I'll use a 20x10 Topflight and tach her. I'll keep you posted.
