I am considering this plane also. I think that someone had a saito 91 on a sledge. I was looking for a little bigger plane for my 91 but nothing seems to fit.

Yeah, you made a good choice, the sledge is a great plane. Just keep it light as possible. A 46 size engine is just right. I used a 70 4 stroke on mine, and it fly's great, but if I build another, it will have a 46. Mine flys just a bit heavy feeling.

Love my Sledge........well, more like perverted LUST!!
Saito .91 is GREAT (Sorry Jeff) and at 4lb 6oz it's not heavy at all!! This plane has LOTS of wing. If the CG is forward though, it will seem heavy.

I met the owner of morris hobbys. He is stationed in montgomery county texas. He gave me a tour of the shop and showed me the airplanes plus some movies. Let me tell you from what i see the sledge is the way to go.

RE: sledge 540
A sledge 540 is one of my top considerations for my next plane.
I'm not too sure exactly what engine i'll end up buying for it, likely to be some kind of .46, hopefully with a tuned pipe.... I'm trying to find a used one. $$$ is the primary limit for my choices.
How versatile do you guys find this plane to be? I want something I can fly around like a pattern plane or a sport plane on low rates and really whip the crap out of it on high rates, does the sledge fit the bill? Any other suggestions on a .40 sized plane that fits the bill?
Thanks,
Rico
