Q-40's aka 422
422 is the AMA class of racers that use a nelson or Jett engine and yesterday I witnessed one going 178 MPH on the straight and level with a radar gun. Plane costs 200+, engine costs 350+ and spins 27,000 RPM in the air, what a sound! Speed rules!!!

Let's see... H9 P-51... Webra 120 (mounted inverted as idle is not really an issue)... Jett Engineering "Jett Stream" exhaust (down the side of the fuse)... 13x13 prop (we need 13,000 RPM on a 13 inch pitch prop, adjust nitro to achieve it)... Very tight linkages, with no slop or flex. Full bore... 10 degree down line. In theory 150 to 160 mph??? Oh yes, you might want a box to carry the pieces home in. I can't imagine it won't flutter. Good luck, and let us know how fast you can get it.

Taking a sport ARF to those speeds might be reckless and/or dangerous. If you plane to do this, reinforce as necessary and lighten along the way. You will need to put all of your controls internal to the plane and clean up the airframe in general. Then add a high torque engine with a huge pitch.
Your better solution would be to buy a purpose built racing plane. There are plenty of racing P51's out there. Post this question on the racing forum for working examples.
