Default Battery systems?

Well, I am buying a WildHare 28% and a DA 50. The next big expence is the electronics. I am fairly sure on what radio gear I want to put in I am stuck on the battery setup.

I know Powerflite and Duralight are going to be the desired way to go, but I'm not sure if I want to buy more equipment. You got to buy more chargers and powersupplies for those. I already have a 2 Supernova Chargers and a 2 12V/13Amp Powersupplies. I also have a Kokam LiPo charger. So I can go LiPo if I want (I think)

With the equipment I already have what would you all recomend?

What battery layout are you guys using?

Should I just say Nuts on it and go with something like the Duralights or Powerflite?

Powerflite is out of business or so I heard. I would go with a Duralite setup, I've switched all my planes over. You can fly all day on a single charge. Go with single 2800mah Redundant pack with a 6.0v regualtor and a fail safe switch. That will prevent you from have two batteries and give you redundancy. Put a 4.8v NIMH battery on the ign and be done with it. You can't go wrong with switching over to LI-ion...

Another vote for Fromeco.org
Call the company, the owner will answer the phone, and all your questions. Kurt is a modeler first, and completely understands what we are facing, and how to solve our battery issues.
Besides, he makes every battery pack he sells, has incredible customer service skills and the best part is he is 30% cheaper than Duralite. (BTW, I own both Duralite AND Fromeco)
www.fromeco.org
I too have the WHEDge/DA~50 COMBO...AND i GET 28-29 FLIGHTS ON A SINGLE CHARGE. Yes i'm using digitals servos, too.
The 4400 ma is $52.00 I think and the 2200ma LIons are only 26.00

From what I've seen Fromeco are awesome batteries. How much are you looking to spend? There's nothing wrong with a pair of 2000mAh 5-cell NiMHs...

Budget setup is a single 6.0v 2700mAh NiMH. If you want a dual battery setup I would go with either 2 1650mAh 6.0v NiMH or 2 2200mAh Li-Ion and regulators. And I would go with the Fromeco's if you go Li-Ion...better price and better customer service for an excellent project.

I would also recommend RadicalRC for batteries and Smart-Fly regulators and switches.

Fromeco.

I have 2 2200's in my 28% WH with 5 8611's. They are light and provide a ton of flights without charging. I have a couple more going in my 33% Edge project. Keep in mind you will need regs and a new charger, so the start-up cost is very high, but for me it was worth it. I also highly recommend the Fromeco charger... you can't ruin your batteries with it unless someone from above hates you. You can destroy them with a programmable charger if you hit the wrong button.

Two 1100 mah 5C RadicalRC NiCds on one receiver with two switches. One 1100 mah 4C RadicalRC pack on ignition. 29% AW Edge, Brison 3.2. 5 8411's and a 3003 on throttle. Cycled packs after 8 flights and still had over 30% capacity on all three packs.

For a less expensive alternative, give these a look -

The owner appears to be very helpful and knows what he's talking about. No, I'm not paid to endorse them.

on 35% fc extra, I use 2 jr 4 cell 1800 nicad packs into one receiver. flying almost every weekend for 3 years I still get 4-5 flights on peak. the batts get warm during extreme 3d because of high discharge and make nice hand warmers during winter flying.
