Default Steering Servo Question

Just finished dialing my new Savage 25, and was She shifting sweeeeet! Problem is, after 8 tanks of fuel, my steering servo sounds like an extraterestrial on rewind! I think I've stripped the gears? Whenever I turn on the receiver, the servo seems to be looking for something?------Maybee ET? Help!!

Default RE: Steering Servo Question

stripped (middle gear) of Savage stock steering servo (HPI SF 2)... Replaced it with a Thunder Tiger S-188 new servo I had laying around... It didn't hold up 1 day of bashing... stripped it too... Finally gave up and installed HPI SF-3 metal gear servo... night & day difference!!
By the way I had my doubts about the servo saver... tesed it... and worked well.

Just my 2 cents...

Thanks for the quick reply desertbuzz! What is a HPI SF-3 metal gear servo? Pardon my ignorance, but a beautiful day of bashing just came to an end!

My pleasure Hacksaw...

The SF3 is the servo that HPI offer as an option with metal gears... It's rated at 6.5kg/cm of torque.... HPI Part # 80561

A suggestion... instead of investing in a new servo... just buy the metal gears conversion pack to upgrade your stripped plastic gears to metal (HPI part # 80587).... (Your stock steering servo is the SF-2).
