RE: f-27 stryker
Okay, a few things. 1st, the Stryker is not, I repeat, is not a trainer or a plane for an outright beginner.
Delta style wings are difficult for a newbie to control.
2nd, the Stryker has a 480 motor for power. To really scare you out of your underwear, dump in a brushless
motor like an AXI or Hacker.
3rd, for repairs on foam, use either epoxy, CA (like super glue) for foam or, Elmer's Probond.
The Probond will actually fill in gaps in the foam while it cures.
My Stryker has about 100 flights on it. I run 8 cell nimh's in mine. Wrecked it once. I hit a pine tree coming out of
a double roll at full throttle. The motor mount cracked the foam where it attaches. I used probond to fix. Aint had
a problemo since. I am going brushless in it next year.

Good luck on your Stryker. Once you get the hang of it and are able to some aerobatics in it, put a brushless motor in.
It becomes a new plane!!!

Download the free FMS flight simulator and the F-27 stryker model for it. It flys almost like the real thing and helped my 11 yr. old son get ready to fly his Stryker. His first flight was short but flawless. His last 4 have been a mix of disaster and good flying. The simulator is free and very good.

Once you have downloaded FMS and have it installed and running. You can go to
http://gunnerson.homestead.com/files/fms_models.htm
Find the Styker and download the appropriate zip file. If you have FMS version 8 then you can use any of the zip files. I have version 8 so I downloaded the alpha 8.zip. Now you should have a .zip file on your hard drive. Unzip it an put it in the models folder that was created with your FMS program. Now you can simply select it just like any other model.
Good Luck

If you have downloaded the .zip file just right click on it and select unzip then it will ask for a destination folder. Click browse and go to your C: drive, select Programs, then select FMS, then select the Models folder. Then click go or unzip or whatever button tells it to take action.
Bottom line it that you need to up zip the file and put it into the models folder in your FMS folder. You can simply unzip the file to your desk top and then cut and past it into the models folder. Finding the models folder it the key.

All those files that show up when you unzip the download need to be in the FMS Model folder. Once you have extracted the zip files to the FMS Model folder then you should be able to select it under Models in the FMS screen. I am doing a poor job of explaining all this.
If this message is still not getting the job done for you, you might want to go to the flight simulator forum and ask for help there.
Sorry it has not worked for you yet.
Good Luck,
Fisher

Patrick,
You are most welcome. Happy to help. Much luck on your future flights.
As for your original question. You can hop up the Stryker but you will have to replace all the electronics to do so. The electronics that come with the plane are not upgradeable. I think it will be quite a while before you have the stock version mastered though. Definitely a difficult issue when Money is limiting your choices.
