Default 8611's on 6 volts

I am planning on using 5 cell nicad packs with my 8611's. I've noticed some digitals are nervous on 5 cell packs without a 6 volt regualtor. How do the 8611's do without the regulator?

Just fine for me.. Have one in my CA 27% extra. no problems testing on my bench (haven't gotten it in the air yet) even on a fresh charged 5cell... I have the 8611 on rudder and Hitec 5645's everywhere else, and the JR is LIGHTING FAST! compared to the hitec.... I may just have to get all JR 8611's!!!!

Compute 42 if I read you right, your 8611s are stable WITHOUT a 6 volt regulator even when the batteries are coming right off the charger? That's what I needed to know. My Hitec analogs work fine on 5 cell nicads without the regulator but a buddies Hitec 5945s went crazy without the regulator, go figure. It appears some brands of digitals are more sensitive to high voltage than others

You do not need a regulator to run 8611's on a 5-cell NiMH or Nicad pack. They work fine even off a fresh charge. You can use a regulator if you want to for some other reason, but you do not need to for the servos. I have run a number of JR digitals (241/281, 368, 3421, 8411, 8611) on straight unregulated 5-cell NiMH and Nicad packs without a single problem ever.

Thanks guys, that is the information I needed, I am trying to keep the system as simple as I can. If the 8611s will work without a regulator, that is the way I am gong to go.

Thanks Again

I have an 8611 on the rudder of my WH Edge running off unregulated 6v packs and fresh off the charger they are almost 7 volts and never a problem... not nervous or jittery at all. I have seen a bit of a centering problem a few times if I tap the rudder one way with the radio on sometimes it will flutter back and forth about 1/8" at the rear of the surface for about half a second... but it does this once the voltage is down around 6 as well so?
