RE: 40% Fly-Fan
Every thing has been modified. Things I had changed when I ordered the kit were to add 3 servos per wing since I had the aileron width increased from about 3 inches to 6 inches. Then I had to double bevel all surfaces. I'm thinking about making a new rudder as well because the one that came with the kit just seems to small, but I made it removable just in-case I think it needs more. I also had to make mods in order to use the cans as this plane didn't come with the can tubes already installed, but you can order the plane with these, so can installation would only mean slipping the cans into place. The good thing now is that you can get all these changes done when you order the plane, this would have been a big time saver.
As far as the craftsmanship I must say it is 1st rate, I don't think it could be beat, the only issue with this plane is it is a builders kit no doubt about it, as there is no instruction manual. I liken it to flying by the seat of your pants. Setting incidence, wing retention ( I used comp-arf parts for this) but in the end I can't complain as a friend just finished his and it weighed 37lbs on a calibrated scale. I'm hoping mine comes in around 35-36lbs as we took a different approach to our building. He used carbon fiber plates through out the inside for trays and then glassed everything in where I'm just using lite ply and fiberpoxy. Not sure who's will hold up better, time will tell.
Final setup will be 3 5945's per wing, 2 5945's per elevator half, 2 5995tg's for the rudder. 50oz tank 32oz smoke tank, slimline pro smoke pump. Emcotec DPSI Rc unit, 2 Fromeco 4400's and 1 2200 on ign. I just need to find a place to get the fuse painted and then hope to have it finished in the next 3 weeks or so. The only issue I have with the plane is trying to find the time to get it done.
