Default World Models 80" Miss America prop size?

Anyone flying one of these with a Saito 180? I would like to know which prop and size you're getting the best all around performance with?

Default Props...

I suppose the prop size for the Saito 180 could depend on the type and weight of the plane. For my Ultra Stick and my World GS P-51 I have been using a APC 16X8. The P-51 is 15 1/2 lbs and the stick was 13 lbs. I've read where guy's are using 17x8 and 18x6 Zinger Pro's on the 180 but have not tried them myself.

Personally, I would go with the 18x6W APC unless you really want to go fast, as this combo will give you about 50 mph. With the huge spinner you want a large prop to get thrust. Also, this prop will help slowing down the plane for landing. Otherwise, the 17x8 APC (not the narrow) would be a good choice too if you want to fly at 70 mph, and don't necessary want to hover. Both of these props will keep the Saito working at its ideal rpm range: just below 9000. With landing gear not far forward of CG, this plane is bound to nose over on some landings, so wood props will cost ya.

Just curious, will the Saito balance the plane? I understand it's not that heavy... Just curious if you have to add nose weights.

Sean:

I just got the plane this past weekend, So I haven't had time to do balance stuff yet. I'm in the process of trading the landing gear out for some stronger ones. When I get the new ones on I will then check for balance and let you know! Thanks for the prop info! Do you have one of these? If so, How do you like it?

I own the APC 17x8 and 18x6W, and I used to have a Master Airscrew 18x6, which I don't recommend because it is too heavy and will cause a rev-up delay. The MA 18x6 does give me unlimited vertical performance though. I like the 17x8 for the general speed and pulling power balance, but it does not give unlimited vertical performance for my 13 lb plane. I haven't flown the APC 18x6W yet, maybe it will be best for me. But I don't own a Mustang. I fly mostly aerobatic planes.
