I hand start it all the time but like to be able to be behind the prop when starting..I have an older Sachs with a spring starter and it is so easy to start and very safe from behind the engine. Thanks for the reply..

I have electric starters that were made for Kowitz engines and as far as I know the rear output shaft is the same size. They add some weight to the plane but if your flying a high wing aircraft it might not make any difference.
