RE: 50% giles
is it going to be scale. at 150 wing and 110 fuse length thats way of scale. the wing should be around 125 inch. at 55% the span is 144 and the length is 128. power should be around 160 to 210 cc lot of wood ant it

RE: 50% giles
Your giles project sounds cool. Hostetler Plans makes a 55% Giles 202 building plans for the giles.
http://www.aero-sports.com/whplans/giles202-55.html A 3W 240 would probably work nice in it.
post pictures, Im building a 35% Giles right now. Should be finished in the next 2 months.

RE: 50% giles
How's it goin......
I'm currently rebuilding a 46% Giles that was one of Frank Knoll's origionals. I'm powering it with a 3W-160 B4. It's gonna be way too much power for it....but hey....you can never have enough right? Anyways.....here's link to the rebuild thread I have on it.

Pink foam for wings, huh? I don't believe I have heard of that being done before. I would suggest that you get in touch with Mike Clemmens and ask him how he built the wings on his 50% Extra's. I am concerned that you might end up with heavy wings with the pink foam and there may be a way to use lighter foam while still keeping sufficient strength.
Aerotech also has built some 50% Extras and are another potential source of information on building an aerobatic plane of this size.
Good luck.
Dave Michael
PS- Do you fly with the LIMAC guys?

Better return to grade school and learn to spell. While there, learn to use the English language in a more effective way.
you at least could have used the word plane in your post to make it effective or sumpon

RE: 50% giles
Well, I like the idea of foam wings.... but I am no expert on how to build a wing so large for an aerobatic plane. I have designed and built up to 120 in wings for an Extra 260 myself and used regular white foam cores and 3/32 in balsa sheeting. No problems with this. I bought my cores from Flyingfoam.com and discussed my needs with them. They were very helpful.
Give them a call and see what they say.

RE: 50% giles
yea im going to check it later. A big portion of the fuse is gonna be 1 inch foam and some ply bulkheads. Teh tail surface witll be foam core with a balsa leading edge and balsa control surfaces. Tail section is almost complete, and its one big mother trucker!!!!lol
