G62 crank end play
Just got a used G62 and during the install in a Laser 200 I pulled on the prop shaft and low and behold I get a slight clunk back and forth in the end play of the crank. Is there an allowable amount of end play or does this need to be snug? In the diagram break down it looks like a circlip runs againt the bearing, is that right? Would it make sence to take the engine down and interchange rear for front bearing?
Appreciate any thoughts on this one . . .
George

RE: G62 crank end play
Both bearings on the G62 are 6202, same as used in many alternators...There is a circlip in the case that the bearing fits against...The end play is a non issue, some have it. some don't.
The best running G62 in our racing series is about 5 years old, has MANY racing hours on it, and gets better all the time..Loose is good...
The old saying applies, "If it ain't broke don't fix it"
