RE: another paint question
I use the Auto Zone Dupli-color engine enamel, it is fuel proof. They make
a clear-cote for the enamel as well, and the results are super !
The stuff is cheap, comes out in a nice fan pattern, and drys fast....I'm
sold on it. The only drawback is....it only comes in the basic colors.

I just want to put my $0.02 worth in here BEFORE someone messes up.
If the paint is LABLED ACRYLIC LACQUER or ACRYLIC ENAMEL it is fuel proof. If it doesn't say acrylic you are taking a chance on whether or not it is fuel proof. FWIW - I do not suggest/recommend mixing lacquer and enamel paints.
Another possibility you may want to look into is water base polyurethane. I spray 2 coats over my latex paint jobs and I can verify it is good to 10% nitro (all that I use). I have also read several reports that say it is good to 15% nitro.

Well, I tried brushed-on water-base poly urethane to seal some seams and stickers; bad mistake. It was nice and clear, though... and progressively more sticky after each flight.[]
Dave, this stuff you're talking about from Auto Zone; it is fuel-proof? Perhaps it needs to cure a couple of days?
Do you know how close the red, white, and dark blue comes to corresponding UltraCote colors?

Steve....
....the stuff I showed is auto enamel, when it is dry....it is 100% fuel
proof, always has been. I simply prefer the enamals because the
fewer numbet of coats....the less dust particles get into the paint. [sm=thumbup.gif]
I applied three coats of paint, and one clear....20 mins. apart. All light
coats to guard against sagging.
