RE: BRISON, ZDZ, OR FPE?
back to the Subject: Which one will it be? Brison, ZDZ or FPE?
I faced the same question not long ago, which engine in the 50cc class to buy.
I read many post's here on RCU and done quite a bit of research on this subject .
The DA seemed exactly what I wanted, light , dependable and powerfull with a good service reputation
But I bought a Brison, why, too many DA's destroyed bearings in Flight, reslting in loss of ACFT, I do not need to loose a expensive ACFT because of a $ 10.00 bearing. Real simple to add up.

WENT AND SAW GARY AT BRISON AT HIS SHOP IN DALLAS. GOT A FIRST HAND LOOK AT THE QUALITY THAT GOES INTO BUILDING HIS ENGINES. VERY NICE. AND HE PERSONALLY RUNS AND ADJUSTS EACH ENGINE PERSONALLY. SO I PUT MY ORDER IN FOR A 4.2 BEFORE I LEFT. GOING ON A ZIROLI BEARCAT

Putting it another way, I have (2) 3.2's and a 6.4 Brison. I might be able to get a little more power with something else, but that still needs to be proven. But I know I won't even consider getting another manufacturers motor because the ones I have run so well. All the time!
And yes, I have flown my older 3.2 Brison neck and neck with a DA 50. There were a lot of people envious of the Brisons mid range, and the DA did not appear to perform any better. My new 3.2 is stronger than the old one. I was, however, out pulled in full power vertical by a stock G-62 in the same type of plane. I guess there's still no substitute for cc's.

running man I'm sure your remark was a tongue in cheek one.
Any engine builder worth considering would test run the engine. I know Taurus does and I'm sure so do the others.
DUH.

But who would be willing to pay for the running of the engine long enuff to break it in? I have long thought that an engine with a few gallons thru it, that you knew the exact history of, should be worth more than a new engine. Never really thought about how much extra it would be worth tho.

Diablo, I guess you enjoy bolting on a new engine and going thru the process of getting it broke in. To me, it just seems one that has been run in, functions perfectly, with no hassles should be worth more. From what I have seen an engine that will fuction for several hours is going to go on and last many many more. Most of the problems are found when new.

All the Brison assembly is done in Texas. The cranks and machine work are done down the street from the assembly location. I believe the cases are made in the U.S. The cylinders may be cast in Canada, and final clean up is done here. The carbs (Walbro) are all pretty much Mexico manufactured now. The carb situation is the same with all the manufacturers now. The ignitions are all CH, made in Wyoming.

Engine break-in just isn't as hard as some make it out to be. Adjust the needles on the ground, test fly, and perhaps readjust the needles. At that point, the engine is capable of providing good enough performance and reliability to do anything asked of it.

Diablo, I have no problem with what you wrote above. I would only make one small change.
---At that point, the engine is capable of providing good enough performance and reliability to do ALMOST anything asked of it.---
I still hate to see someone take a new one out and fly its first flight wide open throttle all the way or start trying to do 5 minute hovers. Guess it could just be a personnal typt thing.
All I'm syaing is when do most of the carb, ignition, or internal problems show up ... the first few hours.
