Default AIR COMPRESSORS

This is for anyone who uses an air compressor to clean their rc's. I am looking into maybe purchasing one of these but I really dont know much about them. I would like to purchase the smallest one possible, any recommendations appreciated.

What you could do is just buy an air holding tank, which is cheap. Then you could stop at any stewarts (cause air is free at any stewarts) and fill it up when you need to. This is the easy way out, but air compressors are very useful for everything from cleaning, to air tools to work on your vehicles, among other uses. I would recommend getting one, but if you do not have any other uses for it the tank would be an alternative option.

I got the holding tank years ago but they dont last long , so the other day went to Target to take a look around found a 120. compressor that was red tagged at 68. bucks went to pay for it payed 30. bucks. Damn I was happy it's a 1 gal. that works great for cleaning my trucks and cars. Check out Target or Wal Mart, RED

It depends on how much you want to spend and what else you plan to do with it.

Get anyone with a tank would be good. Home depot or Sear when they are on sale. If you are just using it for R/C stuff a small tank is ok (Oil or Oil-less is fine) Pan cake tank type is nice and small. Get a air filter and air moisture trap if you plan to paint your R/C bodies. Air regulator should be included with your compressor/tank.

If you are going to use it for air tools, got to get one with a bigger tank and higher HP. You have to size it to want air tool you want to use. The CFM rating is important. Look at the list of tools you may want and size it to that. I would go with the oil type system. It will last longer than the oil-less type. Make sure you oil your air tools.

Air painting (Not air brush) you will need the check on the air gun you plan to use and size the CFM requirements also. You will want the largest air tank you can fit in you garage/basement. This will mean less running of the compressor. Air filter, air moisture trap is needed.

Someone in the earlier posting posted something about air tank and air tools. I didn't want anyone to get the wrong idea. I just posted what is needed if they want to expand to other areas in the future. I for one have a 5HP & 25 gal tank to use on all my stuff. I'd wish I have gotten a bigger tank. I also have a 5 gal air tank & hook that up to get a larger volume. Not much better, but it should help.

So Red, didn't shoot your mouth off on a good advise.

Even Joe75 mention he wanted a whole compressor

An excellent place to score deals on compressors is your local pawn shops. I go to several around here looking for old fishing tackle and I got a killer deal on a nice Porter Cable pancake compressor from one. I've seen several deals on nice used compressors at pawn shops.
