World Models Extra 300s
Would like information on the World Models Extra 300s arf kit
the Patty Wagstaff kit or one of the other color schemes
If you have one how do you like it?
What engine are you using ?
What is the weight ?
How is the kit construction ?
Where is your CG set at?\
and any other information that will help me make a decission whether to buy or not to buy.
I have a YS 140 that I plan on using for it what do you think?

I just bought one of these in the PW color scheme. Have not started assembly yet but a few thoughts - I am going to use a Moki 1.80. Your YS will fly it but I don't think you'll be happy with the power. This plane will weigh about 14+ lbs. I will replace the tailwheel with a Haigh style for a more scale look. The kit looks very well built but I really haven't had it out of the box except to check for damage - and to polish the landing gear.

If he can get 9,000rpm on a 18x6 he should do OK. I will agree I would go with a big 2 stroke or gas. A lot will depend on the type of flying you plan on doing.

YS -140
MY YS 140 's with Magnum # 2 will turn a 17 x 8 at 9200 -9400 they pull a 12 lb. bird real well Like a Dave Patrick Ultimate virticle is real great I was hoping the Extra would weigh in at about 13 lbs. with the YS-140 I think they are lighter than a Moki 1.8 or a 2.1 Maybe 13lbs. is wishfull thinking

The YS 1.40 is a good engine for a 1.20 size airplane 73-75" WS range or about 12lbs. Most of the pattern guys are using it in their 2 meter planes and it does real well. The WM Extra is an 80.5" WS airplane with a projected flying weight of 14+ lbs. The Moki 1.8 on FAI (no nitro ) fuel will turn my 19x8 prop at about 9000 rpm. Translation = straight up until it's a dot!

Hey Don, Ryan H. I built and flew one for one of the guys at the field. It was the first one Glen got in. The ARF quality is typical ARF, not great, not horrible. He has a BGX in his turning a ZingerPro 20 x 8 at 7300. It flies fine, but is by no means a rocket and nowhere close to unlimited vertical. I'm "guessing" it is around 13 - 14 lbs. Flies like a big trainer, with no bad habits. Keep in mind how I like to fly. His rates are not even close to where the need to be to smack it around hard. FWIW. Ryan.

WM extra 300 80" nice plane
Well guys, I am flying mine for almost a month. I have ZDZ40 in it and weighs 15.5 lbs. I am not bragging but I am having unlimited vertical with this plane. Three other club members have flown it and they were pleased with it, these fellows fly big birds all the time and holds first position in IMAC competitions. By the way, I have 20x10 menz ultra and I will change it to 20x10 standard after 5 gals. 1/2 throttle take offs and glides in for landing. The plane is built solid and holding gas engine very well. I am a happy camper with this plane (my first gas plane). Will recommend it to anyone!!!
