Default Servo Saver

Hello Everyone:

I just ran my Savage 25 for the fist time las saturday and I managed to strip the gears on the stock steering servo within 45 minutes. It sure seems that the HPI steering servos are just too weak for this truck, so I ordered from Tower hobbies a Futaba S9350 Servo (Digital High-Torque 1/8 Scale), however I was thinking about getting a servo saver like the one from Golden Horizons or the HPI Cam Type Servo Saver. Between these two, or any other you know of, which one would you recommend?

Best regards,

I'm a newb, so please forgive the stupid question. What function do servo savers provide? Do they protect the servo somehow?

yes, they do. if you dident have a servo saver, and you where turning left, and you hit somethin that made the wheels turn right, it puts ALOT of strain on the servo and the servo gears. by having a servo saver, when the wheels are jerked right, the servo saver gives to a certin degree; it lets the wheels go right even tho the servo is turning to the left. it helps to prevent stripped servo gears.

so, do you generally only put the servo savers on the steering servo? ...or the throttle servo too?

When you buy the HPI servo saver, you will see that it comes with a throttle servo saver too.
All it is is a different throttle servo horn that has a teeny gold coloured spring in it.

your best to swap the stock throttle linkage for the ofna setup, it will vastly improve your brakes and throttle response
