Would it be a good idea to run 2 servos for the elevator instead of 1? Its going to be flown pretty hard and I don't want them pushing down on me.
Thanks.

I would not use two servos but due use a high torque digital servo if possible because it takes a lot of G.s on the elevator.

I have a JR 8411 on mine and It is the best if found

You will like that airplane, it flies like a beauty but still will go wild when told to

2 elevator servos are a pretty standard mod for these planes. Install 'em in the standard radio tray if you're using a glow engine; stick 'em in the fuse if you're using a 45+ oz. gasser.

PlaneDoc,

What servos do you use? I just built my cap and put dual elev in. I am having a little trouble getting them to match perfectly. I used hitec 605bb programed into an 8103.

Also- Where do you fly in Rockford. I fly mainly at Keiselburg, just wondering if I know you, just can't tell with your alias.

I installed two 605 bb with pull pull on the elevator
it took me 4 hours to get it right but it was worth the
effort . i still had to add nose weight (3ounces)
O.S. 160 in the nose

echavi9325: Where did you mount your servo's, in the stock location, or in the tail? If in the stock location, where did you have the cables for the pull / pull exit the fuselage? Do you have any pictures of your setup?

SORRY NO PICS .i instaleed the servos in the standard location
one on the left and one on the right.i used a sonic tronics
double control horn #119 on the elev halves.i used the
control horns as a giude to make my holes on the turtle deck
and the fuse sides.i used a sharpened 4-40 rod at the correct angle to make my holes. idid have to relieve on of the formers to get a straight shot at the servo arms.

On my H9 Cap I have one JR 4131 driving two Dave Brown fiberglass pushrods for the elevator. The two rods come straight from the rear end and are spliced like a "Y" branch of a tree at the servo where they join by 3 inch taperd splice. A short 1 inch 4-40 rod hooks to the servo with a JR aluminum servo arm with a DuBro swivel link. Short 4-40 rods exit the fuse through Grat Planes hooded exit guides (no bends) to the stock Sullivan contro horns with 4-40 DuBro swivel links. It is a solid, no fuss no play setup with no two servo timing hassles. With a YS140L it weights 12.53# (digital scale) and balance is 5 3/4 inches from the LE at the fuse with no weight added. If you can get a solid, no-play elevator hook-up with one servo, you don't need two servos on a 25% plane unless you need the tail ballast. Of course, there is always personal preference

Default H9 Cap

RICEC5 i have two caps one saito powered one os . both have single elv. servos and no added weight to balance. fly weight just over 12# and both fly great! landing is no problem and the plane will fly very slow if you don't over load it. on a 1/4 scale 12=14# plane one high end servo and push rod set up works fine. i agree if you add a gas engine then two in the tail is the way to go for needed ballast.

I love my Cap. I have a Fox 2.4 on it and 2 elevator servos and 1 rudder servo in the tail all are 645mg. I is one of the nicest airplanes I have ever flown. 13lbs loaded with a 40cc gasser. Lots and Lots of mods and it all paid off. Check out my latest video on my site and constuction pictures in My Hanger.

Finnz... the video pretty much says it all about gas power in a 25% plane when it is well planned and executed.
