Default Which plane for saito 5 cylinder?

I recently bought a saito 5 cylinder radial. I'd like to put it on a plane without a cowl. Any suggestions on the type of plane and size of the plane. Looking for a kit. Leaning towards the new flair stearman or the ziroli stearman. Any other suggestions would be great.

Default STEARMAN

Dan

I just got my Flair products Stearman last week for my Saito 5-cyl. I did the same thing, bought the engine then searched for an airframe!! Accordingly, there is a person in the UK that is flying this combo and he has reported that it is indeed a dream combination. I also did not want to hide the engine under a cowl.

The kit is very complete and the instruction manual is just great (it is loose-leaf type). The plans are first rate. It will be my winter project.

I was told to figure all-up weight with the Saito to be 22-24 lbs.

There are some "Real English" phrases in the manual that you must translate if you don't understand "Real English" and all measurements are in metric. There is a metric to "real measurement" conversion chart enclosed also. I haven't decided if I am going to replace the metric fasteners with "real fasteners" yet or not. Got to think that one through first.

Get the Stearman and go for it!!!!
