Default ski help

Help! I’m going to a snow fly tomorrow. And I need some advise on putting skis on my Twist. I was going to make a ski of some sort for the tail, but I’m not to crazy about putting glue on, or a screw hole in, my airplane. Also I just got the latest issue of Fly RC and noticed a few photos and noticed a tail dragger with no tail ski (still had a tail wheel in it). What do you folks think? Can I get away with not putting some sort of ski on my tail?

I never use a tail ski, the wheel will work like a rudder in water.

don't bother with anything on the tail, especially on a twist. here is a pic of my Sig Somethin Extra on skiis (almost identical to a twist) when it was moving the tail never dropped anyway.

Thank you. All set with the skies. Now lets hope that the snow is thick enough to stop the lawn dart that I am positive I'll turn the twist into.

I saw a guy use a couple of plastic soda bottles once. He just made a cutout so that the wheel and part of the axle could fit in. He put the 'neck' end forward. He actually flew with them... but lots of drag. I have no idea how much trim he needed.

thanks, although SE's haven't been very lucky for me. My first one went in when the tail section broke off. might have been partially builders fault, but I snapped out of KE flight too quick and the entire tail section came off. SE #2 was entirely my mistake. 3d too low and flew right into the sun. lost contact, and didn't see the impact into the ground. Amazing part is the right wing survived both crashes without a scratch, so I'm starting to wonder about that! (Check the site in my .sig for the pics of SE #1, didn't have a camera handy for SE #2. (The one pictured above is #2)
