Colmo:

I've not "Gone Crazy" about the Twinstar, but let's conside the Duellist 2/40, another popular twin that has to be built.

The kit, from Quantum was $130. This did include the shipping. If you added $26 for the covering, $17 for wheels and retainers, another $17 for a bottle of CA and some epoxy, be sure to add $16 for fuel tanks too. You have now spent $206 for what comes in the Twinstar box for $120, and you still have to build the Duellist.

Granted the Twinstar is smaller than the Duellist and nowhere nearly so aerobatic, but it is a CHEAP way for anyone to have twin.

Bill.

Ahhh, colmo,,
This is actually an easy one to answer..
As Bill pointed out above, the cost factor...
And...............
Ease of flying..
Easy to maintain..
Easy to transport..
Easy and fast to assemble..

This is an ARF.. More importantly it is an entry level<trainer> twin...

So the basic answer would be,, that it is a cheap, fast, and easy way
to get into a twin.....

When are you getting one for yourself...?***** *****

greetings, colmo
I don't know as anyone's going crazy, but there is considerable anticipation.

I see you haven't made many posts. When you have been around a while, you'll notice a couple things pertinent to this thread.

1. Planes have an expiration date. They are, unexpectedly sometimes, lost.
2. Manufacturers sometimes suspend production of a particular plane, due to slow sales.

The TwinStar, like all others, is subject to unexpected expiration date arrival. Production was suspended some time back, probably because sales were that of a niche market (low.) However, the plane had attracted a small, devoted following - a somewhat vocal following - and those followers requested re-release of the TwinStar in adequate numbers to attract the attention of the manufacturer - which announced a new run of the plane.

This made our niche market followers happy, and they have expressed their good cheer online. That's probably what you've noticed. I, on the other hand, noticed several requests from the guy who sold me mine. He wanted to buy it back. I offered to let him fly it, but he was having none of that. He wanted his own, and I have no intention of parting with this one. He was one of the happy ones who ordered a new copy.

This won't be the last time you see the return (or initial issue) of a plane receive wide acclaim. There will be others. Note recent posts on the release of recent twins like the P38 and B25.

Then again, maybe it's just a thing with multi-engine flyers.

Good luck,
Dave Olson

HEHHE, cool answers, thanks a lot.

Im not very fond of ARF´s, but thanks anyway for he replys. I just want to add that you guys do seen a bit crazy for the plane, but I didn´t mean it in a disrispectful manner what so ever. I myself am a bit crazy with full R/c conversions of gillow´s planes, although I still don´t have the guts to try the multi-engines. Some day, though...

colmo
