RE: Getting aluminium out of my grinding wheels ???
No one has mentioned the dressing wheel for sharpening the stone. Couldn't do without it in my small motor shop. Green wheel is very soft and will break down easily for sharpening carbide. The carbide is so hard it will dull a harder wheel quickly so it no longer cuts the carbide without constant sharpening.

Crisco is lard. It is sold in grocery stores as cooking fat for making pastry among other things, another brand name is "Tenderflake".

Yes, it's a real hazard. Aluminum is forbidden in most coal mines world wide for this reason. Even aluminum gum wrappers are not allowed. Many people were killed before the true nature of the thermite reaction was recognized. Apparently aluminum crushed into iron oxide i.e. rust will ignite. If you must grind/sand aluminum be sure to clean up the dust when your finished.
