Wing tubing question
Probably a very basic question for most but I dont know what exactly phenolic wing tubing and sockets are or how they work. Do you need both the tube and socket or just the tube or ???
Thanks

RE: Wing tubing question
Phenolic comes from the planet "Phenol". So when we use it, we just say that it's "Phenol"-ic.
Alright... Phenolic sheet is a hard, dense material made by applying heat and pressure to layers of paper or glass cloth impregnated with synthetic resin. ... It's as good as anything for most uses, as it's normally used with an aluminum or carbon wing tube, which is what the loads are transferred to. It's a little more brittle than glass or other cloth-type tubes, though.
See this thread for some tests I did on making my own fiberglass tubes, and comparing them to the phenolic tubes.... same weight, more strength. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/Fibe...2514387/tm.htm
