Hi,
You'r Yak looks great. What pack are you using? I have the yak arf w/moki 2.1 just finished with the same servos. Thinking about using a mpi 6v HD regulator w/2400 lithium-ion.
Where is your CG at?
Thanks!

RE: Finished OMP 79" Yak
I am using a 1200mah NIMH battery pack, mounted up front where the compartment is. My CG is about 7 3/8 from the leading edge at the fuse. I still had my nose dropping a little also at that point to make the initial flight and flew great so i am not going to change it. Plans call for about 1 to 1 1/2" behind the wing tube. I can prop hang it easily on low rates, which is 50% of the high rates. Was running a 20X6 zinger prop and wasn't happy with the results so went to a zinger 20X8 flys great with it. Oh almost forgot i did add to the tail to help balance, about 4 to 6 oz's was all. Hope this will help you some.

Wow Tex, that's unusual to add tail weight but I know that MDS 2.18 is a heavy engine. I remember when they first came out there were a lot of reported flameouts with that engine. How has your luck been with it?
Also you may try mounting the battery in the left wing and using a Y-harness to go from the Aileron servo through a switch to the receiver. There's a pic and detail in the manual....might be under the 65yak manual but it's a slick setup and might help to reduce the amount of tail weight required.

RE: Finished OMP 79" Yak
The engine has been real good, runs strong. I have a flame out once in awhile but generally because i lean it out just a little to much. I make my own fuel and the engine does not like nitro. Has alot of pre detonation when using nitro. It runs good on only Methenol and oil mix. I might look at the mounting of battery in the wing. But a little extra weight not going to hurt me none as the 2.18 has plenty of power. Prop hang at just above half throttle. Can pull out like a rocket and and can almost go out of site vertically. I have been running one of the 2.18 engines on a Morris Hobbies giant SU DO KOI flies great, unlimited vertical, plenty of power. For $150.00 new and free shipping cant beat that deal on an engine of that size. I have been very happy with it.
