Radio problem
I'm having a problem with my radio, and was wondering if anyone here might be able to help. I have a Futaba 3pm on my t-maxx. I just put it on about two weeks ago. It worked great for me up till yesterday. While runnning it yesterday I started noticing something very odd. It seems to be picking up interference from the engine. The radio works flawlessly until you hit the high RPM range with the engine and then it will glitch out. I thought my engine was cutting out at high rpm, but then I noticed the steering pulling each time the throttle glitched out, so I picked the car up and ran it while holding it off the ground. The radio works great until the engine hits the high rpm range just before it should be shifting into second gear, then it will glitch out for a split second, causing the steering and shifting servos to tweak and the failsafe to kick in on the throttle servo.
I tried pulling the antenae up to the front of the truck as far from the engine as possible, but this had no affect.
Has anyone else had a problem like this?
Any suggestions on how to fix it or things I can at least try?
Do you think a different set of crystals would fix er up?
???
Any help would be appreciated. My TM replacement carb is due in next week and I need to get this radio fixed so I can break the new engine in without having to worry about radio glitches.
Thanks

RE: Radio problem
is there any barbed or slightly sheared areas of servo wire/antenna touching anything metal because friction believe it or rubbing up and down on a wire sends a different signal through the wire which would therefore account for your radio lose and it could just be that when you get to a certain point in the revs it is causing too much friction on a certain wire.
i would check all wires on your servos and antenna wire for cuts or what have you
and if the problem ceases to persist i would mount your servos on the chassis with a little bit of fuel tubing b4 the servo touches the chassis i learned this off one of my mates so dont know if it would help as i done it straight away and he owns a t-maxx so i thought i would mention it
hope you get it sorted

RE: Radio problem
No loose or bare wires at all. In fact the Tx Rx is practically brand new. This is really pissing me off. First I get a new O.S. .18 TM with a bad carb out of the box, and now that the warranty replaced carb is being sent to me, my brand new radio system is bugging out. I'm baffled...
I checked it out again today. The radio functions flawlessly until the engine reaches high rpms regardless of whether it is on the ground or in the air. The engine hits a certain speed and all 3 servos glitch out simultaneously for split second which immediately causes the engin rpms to decrease slightly and the controller starts working properly. This freaking sucks.
