65" YAK - ARF
Just ordered the 65" Yak last week and expect delivery any day.
Wondering if anyone on the furm or the OMP boys have used Robart hinges in the ARF?
Wondering if there is enough meat behind the TE to use pin hinges.
Have never been a fan of the CA type hinges. Anyone experience issues with the CA hinges in this application? With this or similar aircraft?
Dion, any thoughts?
Cheers,
GB

RE: 65" YAK - ARF
Well I'll put my two cents in. In the manual I state that we don't recommend using pin type hinges as it's my view that drilling a hole in the trailing edges of the stab will weaken them given they are only 3/8" wide to begin with. I'm glad Steve they have worked for you and we all know you definately have stress tested them to the max! So that's a good data point to have. If you don't like the CA hinges then you can also use the flat dubro style hinges as well. Cutting slots parallel to the grain is better than drilling a hole through the grain.....structurally speaking that is.
