Default Replacing spur gear

Question for all of you Savage gurus,

What has to be moved/removed in order to replace the plastic spur gear on the SAvage 25?

I remember I had to put on the "ss" spurgear that came with the 4.6 kit and there was like a washer, spring and bolt in front of it. Cant you just remove the bolt and the spring and slide the spur gear off?

just had to replace mine. that diagram shows it all. to set the mesh, most people recomended putting a single piece of paper inbetween the gears and tighteninghte engine down. then pull the paper out.

I tried just sliding it off but the clutch bell was in the way so I called the lhs and they told me to just take off the engine first.

That spur gear just won't come off with that pesky clutchbell in the way! Engine removal (Or transmission removal if you are really, REALLY bored) is the only way.

na, I liked tearing apart the diffs. only thing bad was them long winded screws, give ya hand cramps.

but yea the motor has to come out to change the spur, just one more up side to running an alloy one.
