H9 Cap 232 33% Need to know about the mount
Hey Fellows
On this H9 Cap 33% that I'm putting together, can some tell me what stand-offs I will need, how long? also I will be putting a ZDZ80R on it, and I was thinking chief aircraft or someone like this could make the standoff motor mounts from the ZDZ80 to the Cap,,,,, your help would be great, thanks guys

I can't tell you the length needed for your ZDZ, but I just used 1"X red oak which was 2 7/8" off the fire wall for a DA 100.

I believe Chief Aircraft sells an engine mount made special for your engine/plane combo.
I bought an engine mount from them for my 33% H9 Cap/BME 110.

I have a BRAND new CHIEF mount for the ZDZ-80
$50 Shipped to you. Send me paypal at [email protected]
or email me and I'll send you an address for a money order.
This bolts right on to the firewall, and is a perfect fit.
I never built the plane, and the plane was sold .

I HAVE A H9 CAP 232 33% WITH THE ZDZ 80 RV AND THE STAND-OFFS ARE 2 " LONG. BUT I HAVE A 1/4" SPACER BEHIND THE SPINNER BACK PLATE.
THIS MOVES THE ENGINE BACK 1/4 " SO THE EXHAUST HEADER DID NOT HIT THE SIDE OF THE COWL.. IT'S A GREAT FLYING PLANE AND MINE WEIGHED 22 LBS DRY READY TO FLY... STILL HAVE IT AND FLY IT ALONG WITH SEVERAL OTHER 27 % AND 33 % PLANES...
2 5/16 " SPACERS WOULD BE THE STANDARD LENGTH .

RE: H9 Cap 232 33% Need to know about the mount
I had to heavily modify my mnt from chief. When I first installed it the spinner was 1/2 inch from the cowl. I called chief and wanted to send it back but the person I spoke with told me since it had been mounted I couldnt send it back. So I got a buddy of mine with a metal lathe to shorten the standoffs. Also the throttle arm hits the back of the mount so I had to grind the mount so it would clear. After doing so I had to reposition the spot where the short bolt holds the two mount plates together because I had to grind for throttle clearance. I think regular standoffs would be simpler. H9 should leave the firewalls undrilled as most people dont use the zenoahs anyway.
