Default RABBIT DRY LAKE HERE WE COME THIS SATURDAY!! LOOK OUT RICK!

The EX-PRADO crew will be making a trek to Rabbit this Saturday morning. Lou, Paul, Terry, Mark, Duff, Dave, Ron,Ken, Buck & Barry. Lets all get together for a day of good flyin & fun.. I'll be bringing the newest addition to my fleet. The new TAMJET F-16. Well, not so new since everyone and their mother has flown it. Got it for a fun no hassle jet. Thanks again Tam. Now all I need to do is call J/R and find out how $$ for a bearing change is for the P-60.

I would really like to see HERB and GREGG F show up as well!!![>:]

Hope to see a nice crew out there.

Thanks for the warning! Saturday's not my best day to be out there, but if I make it, can I get in line to fly that F-16 too?????[8D]

We have 4 or 5 of us doing turbines out there now. Maybe we can get them all out there for a big day.

I was just over the hill at Lucerne last week - did not see anyone flying at Rabbit when I drove by in the AM and afternoon. What time do people usually fly there?

Long haul from SD (about 2 1/2 hours) but it's about to become the only place to fly turbines in our area of SoCal... Dougie, is the rumour true about El Toro closing in July?

El Toro has signs posted that the lease expires June 30, as the new owners take over 2nd week of July or something similar.

Barry,

If the wind was blowing, as it probably was, there would not likely be anyone there. The winds have been unusually high all year out there. You were looking north about a 1/2 mile out on the lakebed on the west side just past the fenced in area, right?

Flying is generally from around 7 am to noon although visitors on weekends sometimes stay later. The afternoon's are almost always way windy and very hot on the lakebed.

People usually fly Thurs thru Monday. Only sometimes on Tues/Wed although Skeet & I have been randomly flying any and every decent day out there during the week.

Rick - yep, that's the area I was looking in, only saw one car on the rabbit lakebed just NW of the fenceline (what's that for, anyway?). Yep, it was windy, as usual (as a young'un I spent probably 100+ weekends at Lucerne flying big rockets and doing other slightly anti-social activities...I think the burned-out hulk of my first car is still sitting out on the lakebed somewhere. )

Dougie, really sorry to hear about El Toro, won't be able to make it tomorrow but maybe sometime in the future. Have to be a weekend thing as it is waay to far to drive for a an early AM fly-in for me!

It did in the afternoon but the tone was set for low speed after the crash so after the FAA reconstruction of the pieces we packed it in.........

Geez,

My comment about making T-Shirts with "I survived Rabbit Dry Lake" was in jest, but apparently prophetic. That was one really sweet flyin P-80! What Happened after I left?
