RE: SLIDING CANOPY, how?
I'm also kinda toying with the idea of a sliding canopy on a Chipmunk if I ever get to it. You might enroll in www.rcscalebuilder.com and then doing a search on "sliding canopy". I tried it and got a lot (20 +/- ) examples of plane projects with probable sliding canopies. Too long to research every one right now. There would be certainly many there who would be glad to help you with ideas.

You can use the frame of an umbrella to make channels for the sliding part. You use the U-shaped metal.
Also, last month in MAN there was an article with a B25 and it had a details on its sliding glass window.

A couple of months ago Vance Mosher did an excellent how to article in MAN. This shows a couple of ways to do what you want, and has a good amount of detail.

Jim,
I looked at this awhile back. I found a thread where Luke showed every detail for his sliding canopy on a corsair. I don't know how to link from here, but look for a thread called "prop and canopy for TF corsair 62"". Author was Avrid. Date was April of 2004. Info there is awesome.

I have also read where guys use windshield wiper hardware for the sliding part. Whichever route you choose, make sure you respond back to this thread so we may all learn your technique. Good luck!
