Jets an 3D flight
I went to a jet event the other day and saw a jet do a "waterfall" and an inverted flat spin.
I was then distracted and not able to determined who or what did it.
What kind of jet models are now able to do 3D?

lov2flyrc,
I saw a Eurofighter similar to this at "Heart of Ohio"
Is this the one? And if it can do 3D, what exactly is this kit and engine combo?
Thanks,
Pat

Pat,
Unfortunatly, I was not able to attend HOH this year. The Eurosport pictured above is produced by Composite-ARF and pricing can be found on their site at www.composite-arf.com , this has become one of the most popular kits of the 2003 season. The Eurosport is extremely nimble and capable of flight manuvers never before seen in a jet.
If you wish to purchase the kit just be aware that the gear doors and speed brake have been added to mine, this is not stock. I also suggest the Robart gear over the Model Mechanics gear composite-arf sells. This plane needs at least 27lbs of thrust for decent performance, it is a very large airframe! Fusel length is aprox 8'.....
Do a search of the Jet Forum using the following key words, there is a ton of info about this aircraft here....
eurosport
eurofighter
euro mods
euro sport

Todd,
8 minutes of full power flight per gallon of jet A.
How much fuel will your eurofighter hold?
I know you don't fly full power all the time but when your doing 3D your usually throttling quite a bit.
Do you go to your local FBO for fuel and what is the cost of Jet A these days.
Thanks for the info.

Pat,
I carry aprox 160oz of fuel which will give me 10min flights with enough for a go-around or two. And yes....you are on the throttle quite a bit with this airplane, much more than your typical sport jet. It's no speed demon by any means, 150 to 160 mph max due to the high drag airframe.
Personally, I buy kerosene since it does not smell as bad. I pay on average 2.20 a gallon + 7.00 a quart of turbine oil that gets mixed to every five gallons for lubrication.

I believe what your asking is if the turbine can flame out from say... a tail slide? Some say it's possible but I have never had mine flame out. I have slid the ES on its tail quite a bit..... I ride the pipe quite a bit with this bird. I do keep some power up though, I'm never at idle when I fly it.....Spool up time is much faster from about 1/4 throttle! I have just upgraded from 27lbs thrust to 34lbs (Jetcat P-120 to a P-160) to open the envelope even further..... This plane is capable of flying a full pattern in high Alpha at 15 mph 5' off the deck!

A BobCat was doing most of the snap and spin maneuvers.

Matt,
I've got a Rookie that is just about finished and can't wait to fly!!! After hearing of your aerobatics---Now I really can't wait!!! Where is your C/G??? Does your rookie exit these tumbling maneuvers easily or do you pray that it will recover. I want to try this stuff with my Rookie but I don't want to spin her in. Why is your Coke bottle tank the pits???

Rookies
Coke bottle is too small. Not sure how much bigger 90 ounces is than 2 liters, maybe 20 ounces or so?
I will try to get Dianna to take some digital videos. If I time the entry right I can get it to tumble pretty good.
Not sure where the CG is, I inherited the plane but it feels pretty far forward (Mine is a prototype of the Composite ARF rookie). It recovers very quickly, but still go high when you start out. It will only tumble to the outside, not sure why.
It is a very fun plane I highly recommend it. And Composite ARF is a great manufacturer....read all about them elsewhere in this forum :-)

Matt,
Thanks for the info---If you think about it would you measure the C/G for me? The stock C/G is around 90 to 100 mm forward of the wing tube. Do you have to do anything special to get the model to quit tumbling or do you just neutralize the sticks??? Are you going to Superman???---If so I can watch you fly yours before I do anything crazy with mine.
