Default 9 Volts

I was wondering if a 9 volt battery would work as a glow, by getting 2 alligator clips and a 9 volt. First get one clip and put it to the positive and the other clip to the glow plug. Then get the other alligator clip and put one side to the negitive and the other side to the engine head. would it work? Thanks

as far as I know your typical Glow Plug charger will only be pushing like 1.2-1.5v - so 9v seems like it would burn out the plug...

No - It wouldnt - that would be 9V going to the plug and it would pop in about 1/1000 of a second. The standard glow starter only uses 1.2-1.5V to light the glow plug.

No- it'll just blow the element. Then put another glo plug in, oops that's blown too. Repeat until you figure something is not quite right.

9v bad - 1.5v good.

the element on the plug glows red hot at 1.5v - glowing red hot is what a wire does just before it melts. So if it glows red hot at 1.5v is it any suprise that like 4times the voltage might melt it???

if you are short a plug lighter and want to try and bodge it into starting then perhaps you could try your original plan *BUT NOT WITH ANYTHING MORE POWERFUL THAN A SINGLE AA BATTERY!!!!!*

I cant guarantee that this will even work - just spend the 8bucks for a new heater from tower.
