1st flight of the sukhoi su31 today
Wow! is all i can say,it flew perfect little trim after take off .It was faster than i thought it was going to be so i backed it down some till i got used to the speed. It did some really fast rolls with hardly any effort.I'm totally happy with the preformance of this plane.it did take me 3 passes to get it landed each time it just did'nt seem right, the guys at the field thought each pass was ok but i just wanted to get er down softly. All in All a great day of flying ...[8D]

Glad to hear the plane flew so well. I'm considering doing an electric conversion on this model. Do you know how it weighs without your equipment in it?
Thanks,
Dave

I took mine out this morning for a maiden. It dead sticked 10 feet off the runway........... had to put her down in the weeds. Minor damage to the cowl. By the time we got the engine running well again it was too windy to fly. Bummer. To top that off I won't see the field again for 3 weeks. After reading your post and being so close to getting mine in the air I feel like canceling my vacation.

Maybe a lower pitch prop will help in slowing overall speed and landing approach.I heard these build a bit heavy.so play with a reliable low idle and keep practising to feel it out.It is better to bring it in a little quicker, for the first while,to find out the stall characters of it.maybe reglue the landing gear platform from the inside to strenthen it a little.

dolittle, for the cowl on mine, I glued small 1/8" thick plywood squares to the fuselage as mounting blocks for the cowl screws. it's much easier than trying to get the screws to sink into the firewall. Also, since it is such a big cowl, I used 6 screws instead of 4.
