Ailerons on Fusion
Hi,
I am building a Fusion and got to the point of sanding the TE of the wing and the LE of the aileron. My question is about tapering the aileron to match the wing tip. Won't I sand through the skin of the aileron into a void? I can't leave it straight because it would look wierd with the wing tip being tapered. What do you suggest?
Thanks,
Dale

Dale,
You do not taper the ailerons at the wing tip on the fusion. It looks fine after the model is covered. It just looks a little out of place when the model is in the bare bones. Here are a couple of pictures from the OMP web site of the fusion after it is covered.

I know. Everyone was telling me to add balsa scrap to the wingtip and ail. tip. I don't know why, cuz I just left it alone and it looks nice and covers just fine.

Yes, some have added a balsa scrap under the sheeting and sanded down a little after teh fact. That works very well but most just leave stock. This was a tricky area design wise and I felt the best option was to leave the sheeting as is. Trust me it has no ill effects on the performance of the plane. Another option is to taper the 1/8" x 1/4" sub spars down prior to sheeting at the tips.
