Default Ultimate Glow Connector

I got so fed up messing with that darn spring connector. It was always poping off while bashing around, and difficult to snap on. I found that with a little modification, a larger size alligator clip would not only stay put, but is real easy to attach as well. I cut the longer side equal to the other (where ya squeeze it), and soldered the wire to one side of the clip, came off at a 90 degree angle, then applied epoxy over the soldered area, and up onto the insulation for strength. It barely sticks up over the head, and it stays attached until ya want to remove it. Sometimes I amaze myself..... LOL

I just found it easier to put a glow ignitor on...it saves the starter battery as well......I always liked the argument for not having to carry one more thing....but the ignitor is nothing really.....

either way nice mod.....you should post this in a tips section if there is one.......actually most users here don't seem to use the search function anyway so nevermind.........

I think that is a pretty good mod Dennis. I also found out like Plaidfish said my Revo starts much quicker with a glow ignitor instead of using the EZ start ignitor. I don't think the EZ start heats the glow plug up quick enough or doesn't get it hot enough.

I like it. The next time my Maxx messes up that wire I'll give it a try.
Personally, the very fact that with the ez-start, you only have one thing to keep track of is a mainreason why I like it. I have the roto-start & spin start systems also (they need the seperate ignitor) and don't find that they start the engine any faster than the ez-start. They are also not as easy/convient to use.
A well charged battery(s) and a well tuned engine are the keys to quick starting with any starting system.

Nice upgrade. Nice idea with the epoxy too, probably better than shrink tube in the situaution.

I have a Ofna .26, and my Easy Start works great !!! I also have 2 starting wands just in case, but have never had to use the backup. I rotate the stock so they both get used. I think the secret is a good charger, and cycleing your batteries every nite after running... I have a spare battery for the Revo too, but have never had to switch midrun since I got my Triton charger. Now that my glow wire is no longer a problem, my life is just a little easier....

How can it start quicker than instantly ??? My first start of the day takes me maybe 10 seconds, but after that, it starts as soon as I hit the button.

faster really meaning easier, on the Battery that is...rather than just letting the plug suck juice from the batt it takes it from the ignitor.....leaving your starter batt free to just turn over the motor.....If it lasts all day for you, that's awsome......don't change a thing...I was just saying what I found works for me.....be surprised how many people get into the hobby and freak when their lil blue wire is shot.....

I love my easy start, and have a backup motor and gearbox just in case... I can start my truck all day on one charge, but I have a backup starting wand too, just in case, plus I always have my Triton charger with me, and a spare charged battery for the truck, so I won't ever have a dead battery. I have never had a battery poop out on me since I got the Triton charger, and started discharging to .9 volts per cell before charging. But thats not what this was about....

I just wanted to say that the alligator glow connector is a winner !!! After massive testing, it has never once unattached itself, even sliding on the roof thru weeds and grass !!!

Hey Dennis,
It sounds like you've started driving you truck a bit harder than you used to. If I remember from when you first got it you were being very careful about driving, bashing, etc.
Now you've got a hot aftermarket motor and are talking about sliding through grass and weeds on the roof
Not trying to flame you at all. Just making an observation. It's been quite intersting reading about you and your Revo and how you/it are evolving.

No thanks, I have planes for flying... LOL I like short, steep hill climbing, and general 4 wheeling stuff. I really hate it when I break stuff.
