Prop Indexing for hand starting
I bet this has been asked a hundred times already, but what position on the clock should the prop be set for hand starting? I have a DA 50 and I have the drill jig, so I need to get right as it is a 4 bolt hub and needs to be drill correctly the first time.
Best regards,
Randy

Wow -- this one's all over the place. I start right handed, with the prop just against compression at 9:00. This give me a good snap, plus the prop is horizontal at dead stick.

I set mine for 2o'clock....
on my plane, which has had dead sticks, the landing gear remains attached when the engine stops....
so it really doesn't matter where the prop is

This is one of the main reasons why all my gas and glow engines have a single bolt prop hub, 20 years and never thrown a prop on a 2 stroke, now 4 - strokes that's a different kettle of fish. [][][]
