I never did. Make sure the CB is clean though, no residue from the plastic shoes.

ok i will try that first. i put new shoes in today and my sav would not mowe, i had to push it at first

Nope. Basically just put them in and run them. Aluminum shoes need some time to break in , so don't be surprised if you notice slight poor performance at first. It will get better after severall tanks of hard running. Aluminum shoes DO need ocassional "de-burring". The shoe edges develop a sharp burr on the edge that you need to scrape off with a hobby knife.
