g23 4*120/floats
I was given an old g23 motor and had a couple questions. What prop should I use? Enough power for a four star 120 on floats?

Jroc,
First you need to know which G-23 you have, since the second type has more hp and torque than the first type.
Early types use 15-8 ,15-10 ,16-6 and have a small 6mm prop shaft along with other differences
Late types have much larger carb ,retimed cyl. porting ,different flywheel magneto and it looks slightly different when compared side by side. Not to be confused with a G-26 that looks identical to the late G-23 except for the red color spark plug boot.
I have flown my late G-23 useing even a 18-8 and a 20-6 in my 14.5lb biplane with good results.

most of all you must use a non wood prop since splash and spray from the floats will destroy a wood prop very quickly. a not very good idea to look at the tip of the prop and find a wooden brush or worse a split blade.
