I would go with a BME 110, I built one of these a few years ago and actually got it down to 22 lbs. It was way too much work. I powered mine with a 3W 70 B2 and had to put a 2400 mah Nicad battery on the fin post to get CG.

I had this plane.... it was a nice kit and flew good. It flew pattern stuff really nice, and 3D was ok. Keep it as light at possible because it can get a heavy wingloading quick. A ZDZ 80 works excellent in it. Unlimited vertical. A DA 100 would also be good, but it would be insane power for it. Id go with the 80 though, its lighter. it comes out a little heavy to begin with. Mine had a 5945 on each surface and that was enough. My lanier giles didnt last that long at all... I fly the 40% Carden Giles 300 now and its better, actually the smoothest plane I ever flown. I have another lanier giles half framed up, but i dont know if i will ever finish it with all the other stuff.

If you can afford the 110, go for it. The plane needs to be kept light, and all of the 100cc engines weigh quite a bit more that the 110.
