I know it is not petrol but what does nitro fuel actually give off in the way of gases????? My Dad thought it was CO1 (that's carbon monoxide!)

The exhaust out of your muffler is just the same as out of your normal family car! All I know is never nver run it inside

Obviously it is poisonous and labels include warnings about breathing it. Always use adequate ventialtion! See the link for a complete read about nitromethane.
