Default buliding light/4 star

Id like to hear from anyone that has any ideas for building the 4 star 40 lighter.

Im thinking about replacing the 3/32 lite ply fuse sides with 3/32 balsa sheeting, and building the tailfeathers from sticks. Can i get any input on that or any other "weight saving" ideas?

Thanks

Default 4*40

Bipeflyer, Are you planning for electric flight? I think 3/32 balsa as a substitute might be a tad too light. You might also look into cutting extra holes in the fuse to lighten it. I wouldn't mess with the wings though, no point in it as it really doesn't help. Most of thew useless weight is in the fuse. I subbed the ply in my LT-40 with 5/32 for electric flight....mo problem so far. Maybe someone else has some suggestions. See Ya! Jollyroger

Perhaps strike up a conversation with the designer.

when i built mine i put some extra lightening holes in the fuse and replaced a couple of the smaller bulkheads with balsa. I also pinned the vert. stab with toothpicks instead of any external reinforcement. It was light enough that i put the elevator servo in the tail and needed no balancing weight.

Oh, and the more you sand, the lighter your airplane gets
