COMPETITION RULES RE: GYROS
This is really not worth talking about, so please consider it an announcement instead.
Just a "heads up" for any modeler competing at Top Gun, with a Jet or anything else for that matter. Rate Gyros ARE allowed on ONE surface only, and that is Rudder / Nose steering. Gyros are NOT allowed by Top Gun rules, or AMA rules, on any other function. I am told that there is a solid chance of more than one participant bringing an aircraft using a Gyro on Ailerons! At Top Gun, there will be considerable "spot checking" by the officials to determine that no one is bypassing the Gyro rule. Unfortunately, any aircraft in violation will be eliminated immediately from the competition with no chance to return. Just clarifying the rule so we don't have a misunderstanding later on!
Please spread the word.
Thanks,
Frank

RE: COMPETITION RULES GYROS
Frank as a suggestion check suspect planes with the switches in every possible position. I know of at least one former famous pattern flier who ran a throttle to throttle mix controlled by the gear swicth to pass the noise check. When the gear was down he passed but not when he got full throttle and power when the gear went up. It would be easy to have the roll / pitch gyros off when the gear is down but on when it is up.
