Mounting stuff underneath the DF base plate
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has played around with lightweight adaptations on a DF V helicopter for mounting a camera underneat the battery base plate?
I saw on the rctoys.com website, on the MTV video footage making of, that the bloke holiding the heli had some kind of polystyrene base on it. Obviously the height of the current legs allow the DF to tip without contacting the rotors with the ground, however I thought at maybe adding carbon rods as extenders to the legs would create more space underneath.
The camera I have in mind is about 54mm x 80mm and weighs just over 4 Oz.
Cheers
Nick

RE: Mounting stuff underneath the DF base plate
I haven't tried anything like that yet...But if the camera itself is already over 4 oz., it's probably too heavy. That's just the camera and not the weight of whatever you're going to use to mount it. 4 oz. is the limit, according to DFI (which probably means it'll fly with more than that, but with degradation in performance).
If you do get a mounting together, I'd love to hear about it!

RE: Mounting stuff underneath the DF base plate
I've seen other threads on here saying people have over 5Oz of kit.
I removed the eyecam so that saves a little weight, and if I mount it with CF tubes and tape, or polystyrene, that shouldnt be too heavy...
anyone else got any thoughts on this?
