DA-50R on its nose?
I have a question for fellow DA-50R owners. I need to store my BME EdgeII vertically on its nose without the wings on. My question is does anyone think that this may cause damage to the bearings or crankshaft? It is resting on a folded blanket on the spinner. About 15lbs of weight I suspect on the bearings.

A ball bearing the routinely takes the thrust when running won't even notice 15 lbs from storage..
A ball bearing will take about half its rated load as thrust.....NO problem....

Hi,
When using a canister with a header, sometimes the old crud runs down to the cylinder. It may damage the piston and cylinder by the next start. We had such damage on a G26. Since then we don't store them vertically any more.

I've seen some reports of the clunk winding up in the front of the tank and getting stuck there if models are stored nose down. I'm not sure that's a real valid concern, but depending on what kind of tubing is used for the clunk, how long it's stored, and whether or not it was correctly installed, that may be a valid concern. I wouldn't think there is a concern with the bearings either as others have already said.

These are great replies, thanks.
I feel better about the bearings now.
I will close off the cylinder into some compression before storing then, hopefully that will minimize anything dropping into the exhaust port. Very good tip.
And checking the clunk location before the days flying is also on my checklist now.

I don't think it will bother the engine, but are you storing it on the spinner? Will that deform the back plate from the pressue?

Good point about the spinner. I'll have to watch that too.
That stand looks interesting, however it rests on the spinner too. I don't think I need the stand though, I simply stand it up in the corner of my garage with all three wheels touching the wall. Takes up so little space. The wings are in home-made wingbags leaning against another wall.
