Savage X Second Start?
Hi
I have a Savage X and I was running it today. It started fine, started first time. I let it run for about 5 minutes, doing jumps and stuff. I was making a video, so I stopped the engine for about 5-10 minutes to adjust the camera angle. When I tried to start the engine again it wouldn't start. I checked the glow plug and it lite up fine. When I blew on it it when dimmer, so that was also a good sign. The rotostart was also fine. I eventually managed to get it started by giving it some manual throttle and proping it on some bricks. But as soon as the trottle was turned off the engine cut out. I also noticed alot of fuel had come out the exhaust. I tried starting it agian, with trottle and it started, but the same problem happened, as soon as the trottle was turned off, the engine cut out. I called the model shop, who couldn't give me much advice, as the pro's in thier shop tuned the engine, so the engine is not tuned wrongly. Why would the engine not start (I did eventually get it started after about 10 attempts)?
Also, the same problem happened today, accept I got it started alot faster the second time (about 5 attempts) but it still took a long time and I had to give it alot of manual trottle again. Why is this?
Thanks for all the help.
EDIT
To stop the engine I covered the exhaust, could this have anything to do with it? (I wondered if it basicly floods the engine.)

RE: Savage X Second Start?
I had this problem last week, i found out that my idle was on to rich and i had to burn off lots of gas before it would perform nicely but as soon as i let it idle for 10 secs is was sluggish again. Obviously i leaned it out little by little till i got a good take off from idle. My first engine (s-25) was tuned by my lhs and there also i noticed the idle on to rich.
Hope this helped, good luck.

I usually keep my finger on my throttle for the first minute or so of driveing untill the engine warms up. After that it is usually fine for me. You might want to check the idle speed.

Rinch meaning the mixture. It could be either way. There's also the chance you have the mixture too lean causing the engine to run hot. It'll push the fuel away from the carb and thus make it very difficult to start. If you can, check your temps.

I presume by rich, you mean high RPM, but thanks for the help.
