Default Surefire 32 or Picco 28 or other?

Hey guys,

I know that these questions keep popping up, but what is a better engine as far as tunabilty, reliability, holding tune, torque, ease of use, price and overall goodness. The Surefire .32 or the Picco .28? I will be running this in a Savage LE. Also, if there is a better engine overall, which would it be?

I am new to tuning and what not. I am looking for a bigger engine, that is easy to use, but offers more then the stock S-25 in the LE. Any info, opinions, tips, links will be appreciated.

I've got the Axial .32 (same as surefire), fantastic engine, easiest engine EVER to tune, massive power i would highly reccomend it. Never had any experience with the other engine.

I just ordered a SH Prospec .28
Should get it soon. For the price i couldnt pass it up ,AUD$158 posted. Approx USD$120!
A friend has the older SH.28 and it has plenty of power and is easy to tune. So hopefully mine will be similar.

I have owned 2 Wasp .26s, a Picco .26, a Picco .27, and a Picco .28 and I have to say that they are all very un-user friendly engines. They are all HORRIBLE to tune and do not hold a tune well at all. I just ordered a Sure Fire .32 myself. I have only heard great things about it and I really cant wait to open it up.

Hopefully I can help out. I have the SureFire .32 in my Savage LE and it just plain kicks ass. It's a very good motor. It will hold a tune and starts like nothing else I have seen. If you like torque and tons of power.......SureFire .32...you will not be disappointed.

I have close to 3 gallons through it and it just seems to get better and better! Good luck!

I just installed that motor recently and it is fantastic. Not that I have owned a whole lot to compare it to, but it is so much better than the S-25. Loads of power and really good top end. I think you are going to like it.

I just put a .32 Surefire in last night and it fired up on the second pull! I have never had that happen to me. I am looking forward to great things from this engine.

Same here Chef, I picked up mine last night and it fired up on my 2nd pull also. Started break-in and oncee the motor was warm, it was starting on the first pull. I know that this is an HPI forum, but I put mine in my LST2. Already have a collari .30 in my X. Waiting on three speed to come in that ordered. Just had to share about the motor

I've been waiting to buy an Axial 28 here in Germany, but it's not on e-bay anymore. If it doesn't come up soon I was thinking of going nuts and just ordering a Picco 28 from Tower. But seems like whenever I feel like getting a Picco I come across comments about them being a pain.. Would the 28 really be a pain do you think? And why did they discontinue the 27? User-friendliness is HIGH on the list of qualities I want my new motor to have..
