YS-45
Dave,
I have a YS-45 that runs really well. When starting this engine cold, it take a bit of time to get it running. With the igniter on, I run the electric starter on it for 15-20 seconds at a time. While doing this, the engine begins to show signs of life sputtering and dieing off. Eventually it fires up.
It's amusing to hear the snickers and jeers from those who think I am starting a piece of junk. But when it comes to life, and the UltraStick yanks off the ground in a few feet and continues in the vertical for as long as I dare, no one is snickering anymore. After that, this thing is stone cold reliable.
At first, I thought it had a hard time starting until the tank pressurized. But it starts right up after a refill. Man, I really love this thing. I gotta get a few more.
Are my starting woes something I overlooked, or does my YS have the personality of a hustler?

Fuel thickens in the regulator and keeps it from working until the fresh fuel thins it out. Have you tried choking the venturi with the throttle at full while running it with a starter?

RE: YS-45
Seems I like I have. But can't swear to it. That sure makes sense. Usually, I put my hand over the muffler to push fuel through. Not an option here.
Thanks!
Bob
